Perhaps one of the most famous and beloved of the remarkable cars in the James Bond franchise, the is the 1976 Lotus Esprit S1. The car first appears in the 1977 movie The Spy Who Loved Me as "Wet Nellie," a car that transforms into a submarine. In the 1981 movie For Your Eyes Only, the white Esprit, presumed to be "Wet Nellie," self-destructs. A second Lotus Esprit, bronze in color, then makes an appearance in the movie and is remembered for being equipped with skis that debuted in a memorial mountain chase.
Interesting trivia: "Wet Nellie" was found in storage in 1989 and was sold at auction to Elon Musk. The design of the famous car supposedly inspired the design of the Tesla Cybertruck.
